This exciting update means we are one step closer to the day when the Disney Treasure will transport guests to beautiful destinations and explore the globe. While the Disney Treasure will have some things in common with its sister ship, the Disney Wish, Sharon Siskie, the senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, shared the Disney Treasure will bring new stories to life and present a one-of-a-kind adventure for guests. Here’s what you need to know to determine whether this is the ship for your next Disney Cruise Line vacation. Children will enter the captivating worlds of favorite Disney stories in the Disney’s Oceaneer Club, a wonderland of immersive spaces specially designed to encourage exploration and discovery. Senses Spa is a tranquil oasis offering indulgent spa and beauty treatments, drawing on the serenity of natural elements to promote pampering and relaxation. In Case You Missed It: Here’s Our Grand Reveal of the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship!

Based on renderings, Disney Treasure will feature a Grand Hall that leans into a palette of deep blue, turquoise and gold, with a design inspired by gilded palaces from faraway places such as Asia and Africa — including the fictitious city of Agrabah from Disney's "Aladdin." Today, the team at the Meyer Werft shipyard cut the first piece of steel for the Disney Treasure. Sparks were flying as a special machine called a plasma cutter, which is housed within the yard’s laser cutting room, was used to cut the steel in the shape of a Disney cruise ship. The ceremony was a huge milestone for Disney Imagineers and crew building the Disney Treasure, marking the official start of construction.

‘Coco’ Star Anthony González Reacts to Disney Treasure’s Upcoming Plaza de Coco Restaurant

Serving as Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by the spellbinding adventure of Walt Disney’s 1954 film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and the celebrated Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994. The design of the submarine-style interiors will call upon 19th century steampunk influences with polished metals and industrial touches. A mysterious window into the depths of the uncharted oceans along the ceiling will make guests feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus, while a decorative statement rug in the center of the space will honor Captain Nemo’s fabled nemesis, the giant squid. This casual venue will be the ideal onboard locale for guests to unwind and watch live sports and news, while ordering from a menu of craft brews and light bites. The voyage begins when Captain Minnie hands over the helm to her dear friend Goofy as he sets sail into uncharted waters on a journey to discover his own inner captain during Disney Seas the Adventure which debuted on the Disney Wish in 2022. The evening entertainment will also include a tale as old as time, as guests are wicked away on a magical journey to discover the power of transformation in Beauty and the Beast which debuted on the Disney Dream in 2017.

This space will radiate the irresistible allure of adventure, inviting guests to seek all the treasures on board from the moment they embark.

On Disney Treasure, one restaurant will be new to the fleet and two will return from Disney Wish, but with a slightly different spin. For an even more luxurious experience, the Disney Treasure has four royal suites that were inspired by beloved Disney cat characters from movies such as “The Jungle Book” And “Aladdin”. Those who are planning a luxury cruise will appreciate the concierge-level staterooms and suites. Guests staying there can hang out in an exclusive concierge lounge that has its own private sun deck where they will be served refreshments throughout the day. The concierge-level suites feature design and décor inspired by the interiors inspired by “The Lion King”.

Design

The Tale of Moana will begin in modern day on the fictional island of Motunui, in a set design filled with hints of brilliant cultures of the Pacific Islands that will appear throughout the show. The Tale of Moana will feature puppetry that soars to mythical heights, including a fiery Te Kā on a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. When Moana meets Te Kā and restores the heart of Te Fiti, the giant Te Kā puppet will shed its fiery shell and become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti herself. As you can see from the concept art, the columns and the centerpiece atrium light fixture are designed to evoke Aladdin, while also retaining a luxurious and modern appearance. That’s a really tough needle to thread, as usually these are two very different types of architecture–I’d normally expect Agrabah to feature a lot of ornate detail, patterns, and texture. Still, I’m hopeful and optimistic that Imagineering can stick the landing on this, as the concept is really intriguing and much better, in my view, than the atrium of the Wish.

This ship’s ride is centered around a brand-new storyline for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as they search for treasure in an ancient temple. The two-person ride vehicles carry guests from the upper decks through 760 feet of winding tubes. No specifics were provided as to the substance of the suite that’ll be pulled from the park, so it sounds probably more like it’ll be a vibe. Our expectation is that it’ll feature modern style, and maybe some geodesic patterns here or there. Hopefully there’s more to it than that, but I don’t think we can expect to see Figment or nods to Horizons–this is a super expensive suite that needs to appeal to affluent cruisers with zero knowledge of the parks.

The Disney Treasure is based on the theme of “adventure” and will feature an Aladdin themed Grand Hall design. Disney Treasure, hull number 718, was built at Meyer Werft in Germany and will set sail in December 2024. The sixth ship will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same as the Disney Wish and ship 7 – 343 meters, approximately 140,000 gross tons with 1,250 guest staterooms planned for a maximum 4000 passengers – which is slightly larger than the Dream class. Today the Disney Parks Blog updated the Disney Treasure ship’s log with a new construction milestone in Germany.

Other adult-exclusive spaces on board the Disney Treasure will include the Quiet Cove pool district, a variety of gourmet cafes, relaxed bars and upscale lounges, and more. The Haunted Mansion Parlor will follow the nostalgic art style of the original 1969 Disneyland classic. True to the original attraction, the lounge aboard the Disney Treasure will blend humor with Imagineering’s distinct brand of spooky storytelling. The design of the Haunted Mansion Parlor will be reminiscent of a first-class drawing room from the classic cruise liners of the golden age, invoking inspiration from the original Haunted Mansion with a nautical twist. Let’s take a look at the different entertainment spaces aboard the Disney Treasure, starting with the Grand Hall atrium (above and below) that’ll first greet guests as they come aboard the ship.

As the Disney Treasure takes form, this moment marks the first time that the iconic silhouette of the ship can be recognized. As with all ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure takes its inspiration from classic ocean liners of the early 20th century with a modern flair. With today’s installment of the bridge block, the Disney Treasure now has everything it needs to sail through waterways around the world. The bridge block contains important navigational equipment for the ship, including the wheel! The future captain and their crew will be able to control the ship’s direction and speed from an onboard command center that looks out towards the horizon with floor to ceiling windows.

Teenagers sailing on the Disney Treasure will have their own dedicated club called Vibe, a stylish space inspired by a French artists’ loft with classic architecture, vibrant neon signs and funk pop art, including a selfie-worthy Mickey Mouse statue. Aboard the Disney Treasure, children will embark on Disney adventures of their own with dedicated spaces and interactive programming for every age group – infants and toddlers, children, tweens and teens. Marceline Market will return offering guests an ever-changing menu along with ocean views from both indoor and outdoor seating. Named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri, Marceline Market will be a stylish food hall aboard the Disney Treasure inspired by popular marketplaces from around the world. From bunnies and elephants to sloths and foxes, all are welcome to indulge in more than 20 flavors of handmade gelato, 16 flavors of ice cream and sorbets, specialty treats, candies and more. On the first night, the story of Miguel and his familia will continue where it left off on screen as they gather in Mariachi Plaza to take guests on a colorful, music-filled journey that celebrates family memories and togetherness.

This is different from the itineraries on Disney Wish, which are three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. The longer itineraries will give guests more time to enjoy the ship, so Disney has to create more experiences to keep them entertained. Disney has announced that the maiden voyage for Disney Treasure will be Dec. 21, 2024, on a seven-night sailing from Port Canaveral (near Orlando), Florida. It will visit Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay (Disney's private island), with three sea days to rest up from your adventures ashore. Disney Treasure will have 1,256 cabins and suites ranging from interior cabins to a two-story funnel suite. All of them will continue the theme of adventure told through Disney stories and places.

This production will immerse audiences in a transformational adventure across land and sea. In addition to the return of two beloved Disney Cruise Line rotational restaurant concepts found on the Disney Wish (1923 and Worlds of Marvel), the Disney Treasure will introduce a brand-new family entertainment restaurant. The shipyard team moved the new build as it needed to make room for the Disney Destiny, the sister ship to the Disney Wish and the Disney Treasure! This milestone is an exciting moment for everyone at Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering, signifying continued progress on the Disney Treasure and celebrating the ongoing expansion of the fleet.

Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members can book a Disney Treasure cruise as early as September 12, 2023 when tired booking begins for Pearl Members, with general booking open to all on September 20, 2023. But don't despair if that's out of range, as there are much less expensive ways to sail on Disney Treasure — though with only weeklong cruises on offer, there are no bargain basement prices to be found. Outside of the maiden voyages, Disney Treasure inside-cabin fares start at $3,845 for double occupancy or $6,271 for a family of four. Verandah cabins start at close to $8,000 for a family, and concierge cabins start around $15,000.

It’s a thrilling time for the Disney Treasure as more and more pieces of the ship arrive. In my later years, I served proudly as Captain of a luxurious ocean liner, every voyage its own adventure. Part of Rolly’s larger creative concept for a “Museum of the Weird” in the Haunted Mansion, his original vision included a character that appeared to be melting like a candle.

On September 5, 2023, Disney Cruise Line shared a first look at their newest ship, the Disney Treasure, set to embark on December 21, 2024. The Disney Treasure, similar to the Disney Wish, has 1,250 staterooms, along with several restaurants, immersive spaces and experiences themed to various Disney characters and properties, including Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, and Pixar. The ship will feature a Coco-themed restaurant, a Tomorrow Tower Suite inspired by EPCOT and a Jungle Cruise-inspired lounge. I have a bunch of other layout quibbles with the Disney Wish, many of which I’m assuming won’t be resolved. The Disney Treasure was well into development by the time the Disney Wish set sail, and it was probably too late to change the core layout by that point. So I’m guessing there won’t be more elevators, added hallways, or significant shuffling of features.
